"are you asking me or making me?" is soooooo interesting to me because i think armand only asks it when he can't gauge whether he's letting louis down. it's barely even sexual - it's a hail mary. it's a show of trust, indirectly admitting that he wants to do something other than what louis expects of him, but that he's willing to obey louis anyway, for the sake of their relationship. it's sort of heartbreaking watching them at the sacré-cœur, because if louis had said "i'm making you" armand would've done it in a heartbeat. he would've taken it as a show of committment on louis' part, and he wouldn't have betrayed him. but louis takes the question just as an expression of disagreement, and so he doesn't play the game. ironically, he respects armand's independence too much to make him turn madeleine if he doesn't want to. and so armand isn't convinced of louis' commitment to him, and he betrays him.

and by the time we see them in san fransisco, louis knows what the question means now, and answers "no, arun, i'm not asking" without question. and armand accepts it without complaint, even as it pains him. companionship really is the most important thing in the world to armand, just like it is for lestat, and he's willing to do any number of horrible things to louis and himself just to keep him as a companion, just like lestat. louis' biggest mistake is not realising how to use that to his advantage sooner.

edit: HELP people are reblogging this again. i misremembered the context of the scene - louis is asking armand to witness the turning, not do it himself. still, if armand had gone along to witness, that would have 100% been taken as implicit permission for louis to turn madeleine (thereby adhering to the first of the great laws) and, in essence, "agreeing" with her turning where before he ordered claudia to drive madeleine out of town. this hypocrisy, and the further bending of the rules for louis' sake (he's given permission to turn a mortal despite neither of them being in the coven), would have been seen by the coven as betrayal. armand knows this; he doesn't think madeleiene should be turned for these reasons; that's why he asks, "are you asking me or making me?"

still. if louis had said "i'm making you" i think armand would've gone along to witness, implicitly giving his permission for madeleine to be turned and functionally changing his allegiance from the coven to louis once and for all. so the core point of the post still stands.

Vulnerable and in the trunk of a car driven by people who hate him, sure, but still alive, even knowing that he'd never regret his actions!!! He showed us that he wouldn't!! Zero gave him the MISSION to confess to his crimes or else deal with the Nonary Game, and he refused to confess, and killed people to avoid the crimes coming to light!!! He decided that he'd rather dig himself deeper than ever repent!!! And then Zero forces him to have his crimes exposed anyways. While ALIVE. While having the blood of the people he killed on his hands, with Zero avoiding getting her hands dirty.

my personal headcanon is that Ed and Winry end up having four kids (inspired by that one excerpt from somewhere that stated they go on to have "several children" lmao), their firstborn a boy and the other three girls.

because let's be honest, Ed would ROCK the girl-dad life. my man's out there spoiling his little girls rotten and also teaching them to KICK ASS as any good father should <3

but I also think he has a special relationship with his son. he's too aware of how much a father can fuck a kid up, and he's terrified of continuing that cycle. even though he has no idea how to be a dad at first, never really having had one of those himself, he puts his all into it from the very start (and even before their first is born. that guy is the most annoying and sickeningly doting dad-to-be, especially when you're his pregnant wife).

by the time his first baby girl comes around, he's gotten the hang of parenting babies and toddlers. he's great at it! my man's 100% a house husband and stay at home dad, supporting his beautiful talented wife as she provides for them <3

but because his son is the oldest, there's always a certain learning curve involved in raising him; one the kid, whip smart as he is, notices more and more the older he gets. it strains their relationship a bit, even if it's still great overall, but that only makes Ed buckle down and try harder–making the kid feel a bit smothered. lol

Ed's relationships with his daughters just kind of... come easier for several reasons, but fuck, would he move heaven and earth for his boy.

it's a bit awkward sometimes. Ed tries so hard, too hard on occasion, and really struggles to let go as his son outgrows the stage of needing constant parental supervision (what if he's not there enough? what if he gives him too much space and the kid stops thinking he can rely on him and suddenly Ed has become the absent shitbag of a dad he swore he'd never be-)

but even if they're not always perfect, at the end of the day, his son knows how much his dad loves him-

and his kid loves Ed too. which really is everything Ed had ever hoped for as a dad.

- except he’s already headfirst into assassin drama that he only manages to get by because he is in all times with a full face mask and body suit that conceals his identity so the assassins don’t know he doesn’t stay unalived (tim told him about ra’s and yeah no thank u)

- he helps tim get his info while he struggles to appear a civilian and hide he’s a ghost. he fails successfully. tim thinks he’s a meta.

- that is. until tim gets thrown to the pits. danny immediately dives down to get him. what comes out of the pit? void!creature danny. light plunges, his eyes are green leaking void and his outline blurs around the edges.

- his core desperately trying to stabilize tim’s premature one that beats erratically because tim got drowned in ectoplasm except he was very much not near dead

- the core killing tim

- danny absorbing the core to stop the process and doubling in pain because of it and smiling in relief when tim wakes up no memory of his pit dip

- except ra’s saw

- ra’s now thinking the lazarus pit possessed one of his assassins. he wants to study it tim

- danny who is now in chronic pain because if he lets go tim will die.

- tim not aging because of it.

- danny trying helplessly to handle the burden of keeping an unformed, cracked at the seams core away from the boy smirking and fighting alongside with him. turning over and over the thought of telling his friend he’s living on borrowed time. straining his power thin to not destroy the core along that pain and spirit alike alight on his eyes.

- danny having a strain smile on when they discover the way to access the time stream

- danny dawning with realization that this was clockwork’s way of forcing him to take the throne
